Social & audience growth

Audience Research Specialist

Replace assumptions with a clearer view of customer needs.

I help businesses turn customer questions and available marketing evidence into a clearer audience picture. Research focuses on real needs, decision barriers and the language people use to describe their problems.

Replace assumptions with a clearer view of customer needs.

An audience profile is useful when it reflects evidence your team can recognize. I look for repeated questions and decision patterns instead of filling a template with invented personal details.

Research depth depends on the information available. If the evidence is limited, the output identifies hypotheses and ways to test them rather than presenting assumptions as established facts.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Personas contain details with no supporting evidence.

  • Sales objections never reach the content or campaign team.

  • Messaging uses internal language customers do not recognize.

Specialist work, with a clear purpose.

Existing evidence review

Examine available enquiry themes, sales questions, search behavior and customer feedback with the appropriate access.

Need & intent mapping

Group recurring problems, evaluation criteria and objections into useful planning segments.

Messaging applications

Translate findings into recommendations for page copy, content briefs and campaign angles.

How the work comes together.

I start with a research question and an inventory of available evidence. Enquiry themes, search language, customer feedback and sales observations can each contribute, but their limitations need to remain visible. Repeated patterns are separated from isolated anecdotes before they inform a messaging decision.

The output connects audience needs with practical uses: page explanations, qualification questions, content briefs and campaign angles. It also records where more evidence is needed. A useful audience summary should help the team make a better decision without pretending to know more about customers than the research supports.

What I need to get started

  • The business question the research should answer
  • Approved access to relevant customer or marketing evidence
  • Sales or support context and a research decision owner

This work reviews available evidence and translates it into marketing recommendations. Customer recruitment, interviews and extensive primary research need a defined additional scope.

Questions worth asking.

Can we start without a large research budget?

Yes. Existing evidence can provide a useful starting point if its limitations are stated. The output can identify quick improvements and prioritize the research questions that would benefit from more direct customer input.

Will the findings become a fixed customer persona?

They can inform a working audience model, but it should evolve as evidence changes. The important part is retaining the link between a recommendation and the information that supports it.

Does this include customer interviews?

Interview planning and analysis can be included when agreed. Recruiting participants, obtaining permission and conducting interviews require a defined scope and an appropriate customer communication process.
